The Roaring Twenties
This is the image that I used to practice heat transfer. We were asked to create a collage to represent our chosen topic within fashion - I chose film. We were then to transfer it using a heat press onto a t-shirt as another way to present our own designs.
For my collage, I decided to concentrate on one particular decade, the 20's. In fashion I would say this is my favourite era as it was full of fun, partying and the fashion reflected this exciting time beautifully. In the 1920's Chanel was particularly influential (see why in my blog about the radical designer, Classic Coco Chanel) and this is why I chose her as a more dominant image to the others. She was the designer of this time. I also chose two actresses from the 20's - Colleen Moore and Gloria Swanson, both silent movie stars. To finish it off I chose a Gatsby quote as that is my favourite film to be set in the 1920's and I thought the quote supported the rest of the image.
Overall, the I feel the outcome of the final t-shirt turned out really well and I have since worn the t-shirt out and about. I even had my Mamma commenting on it saying, 'I'd wear that, it's beautiful, I'd tell everyone my granddaughter made it.' I'm sure everyone can relate and can always rely on their Grandma to big them up and make themselves feel good about their work, aren't they wonderful!
Finally, with my finished design printed on the t-shirt, I am going to create a small photoshoot modelling it and will be sure to post them on my next blog.
